Dream Seasons

Lila is a little girl in the first grade, who has only bad dreams since she is in school.
Now the summer school holidays start and she is visiting her grandmother.
Then she goes to bed after the first day ...

Was developed as part of the Godot Wild Jam #71.

I only had 3 evenings to implement it, so you can see the current status, although a lot is still missing, of course.

Game Features

  • Sleep and Wake Mechanics: Players control Lila in her dreams.
    As it is a dream, something unreal could also happen.
    After slept enough, the timer is up and she wakes up again, which ends the current season.
    At the next evening, Lila sleeps again, dreams from the same scene but inside the next season.
  • Seasonal Changes: The game has a single scene with seasonal variations, it changes visually and functionally with each season, offering unique season-specific environmental puzzles and challenges that must be solved to progres.
    Players cannot skip seasons; they must solve puzzles in each season to progress through the cycle of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
    If Winter was also successfully finished, the game is won.
  • Unintended Consequences: Actions taken in one season affect the scene in subsequent seasons.
    For example, planting something in Spring provides a path in Summer, but might block a different path in Autumn.
